Arte Y Pico Award

Denise (aka peanutbee on SCS) gave me this award and I was so touched. If you visit my blog, you know how much I think of her … she is an incredibly talented stamper and a super person. So thanks Denise for the award, the friendship and the inspiration you’ve given me!! If you haven’t visited Denise’s blog or gallery, you might want to remedy that soon … she just oozes creativity.

Now, the rules of the award are:

1. Pick 5 blogs that I consider deserve the award for creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language. 2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone. 3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her/him the award itself. 4. The Award winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte Y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award. 5. To show these rules.

Here are 5 bloggers from my list of links that inspire me and that don’t appear to have received this award yet:

Alison - Stamper's Ramblings
Bevie - Step Away from My Scissors
Jen - Taylor Made by Jen Marie
Kim - Impress Yourself
Stephanie - Stephanie's Stampin Spot

2 of these ladies are even offering up some special blog candy right now … so go check out their blogs and be inspired.

Sweet Life

I got a ton of images in the mail yesterday from the PIF Image swap, what fun!! So I colored several with my Copics while watching a little HGTV last night. This morning I chose one of the Copified images (as my friend Bevie calls them), and put together a quick card. This image was sent to me by my friend Lori (LMcAree at SCS) ... she has great taste in images and has a wonderful gallery, so check it out sometime.

Supplies: Ice Cream for Two from High Hopes and A Muse sentiment, East Coast Prep DSP, Wild Wasabi, More Mustard CS from SU, Wasabi stictched ribbon

You Take the Cake

This is a page I did for an 8x8 scrapbook I'm making for my DD, who turns 21 in September. This is from her 1st birthday. This particular picture is a copy I made on a picture copier at a CVS because I didn't want to scrapbook my original. The size was 3 1/2 x 5 and the top of my head got cut off during the copy process. No matter what I tried, it wouldn't copy the top of my head ... lol ... oh well, the best part of the picture is the chocolate covered baby.

Me and a couple of my online friends are challenging one another to get scrapbook pages done. We're going to try to post on Sundays, but since I forgot to post the last time I said I was going to, I thought I'd better post this one now to show them something I've done in the past. It's not fancy or elaborate at all, but it's a finished page.

Supplies: Doodlebug patterned paper, Pink Passion, Green Galore and Pumpkin Pie cardstock by SU. Unknown embellishment.

Enjoy the Moment Michelle

I was so excited to see that Michelle (sf9erfan) was this week's featured stamper on Splitcoast Stampers. This is my first featured stamper challenge card and I have to say I don't know why I haven't tried it before ... it's a LOT of fun. Michelle is an incredible stamper, a fellow PIFer and a very nice person. Here is the card I chose to CASE for the challenge. I use the same image (thanks Denise for sharing with us) and layout. I used Papertrey paper and ribbon, a different sentiment and I omitted the bow ... not because I didn't like it, I just ran out of room.

Congrats Michelle on being this week's featured stamper!! I really enjoyed browsing through your gallery.

Supplies: Daisy Canopy image from Elzybells and sentiment is Mixed Message from PTI, Papertrey Ink white, Sweet Blush, Spring Moss cardstock, Pink Patterns patterned paper, Spring Moss ribbon, Stickles on the flower center and the grass

I can finally post a card I did with an image I received from Denise . I sent this card to a friend and now that I know she received it, I can post it here.

I love the image, but I'm not sure I did it justice.

Blog Candy ... Sandy Style

Yipee ... hurray, it's my lucky day ... I have surpassed 500 hits on my blog!! A milestone that has prompted other bloggers I know to give away some blog candy. So here's what I'm offering up: stamped images (2 of each of the following: Pizza & Dream of Cake Gruffies, Boo Boo Bear, Spring Chicks, Cheers Cow, Fixafella and Beachabella). Also, some large scalloped rectangle nesties and coordinating ribbon, patterned paper, buttons and primas.

Just leave a comment on this post with a link to your favorite card (either on your blog or online gallery). I'd love it if it were your own creation, but those of you too shy to post your own work can still win. I'll draw a winner on Friday morning, April 25th.

My own little twist is that I will be sending out 2 sets. The winner for one set has already been drawn. Everyone that has commented on my blog to date was in the running and I drew Kathy H. Congrats Kathy!!

Party Animal

I love how this card turned out. Started out with a super cute image I got from Lori (LMcAree) from the PIF image group ... thanks Lori, I love this little guy. I colored it with my copics Friday evening while sitting on my screened-in porch. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. I actually colored several different images with the same basic color scheme. I based the layout on this cute card from my friend Bev's blog. I haven't used buttons in forever and boy did they add a cute touch to the card. And can you believe I FINALLY used my Nesties? I've had them for several months and haven't even had them out of their package.

Supplies: Whipper Snapper image and Amuse sentiment, Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise cardstock, patterned paper from Scenic Route, ribbon and buttons.

RAK from Denise

I got the most wonderful RAK from Denise (aka peanutbee on SCS) yesterday. It was an adorable card that she had posted on her blog, The Paper Landscaper, with a nice sampling of Stampin Up's Afternoon Tea designer series paper ... wasn't that sweet? It was a complete surprise and totally made my day. Thanks again Denise!!

Margarita Riley

Okay, so really it's called Hammock Riley ... but paired with this cute A Muse sentiment, I'm calling this one Margarita Riley. I got this adorable image from Michelle (JustPaintingAround) through the PIF Image swap on SCS. I actually have this Riley stamp coming to me, but I couldn't wait for it to get here so I was lucky to get some images from Michelle. I am planning on making invitations for some girlfriends to come over for margaritas and this image will be perfect. I finally used some cute Memory Box Sugar paper that I've had for a year now and some of the twill I ordered from tayloredexpressions that I got on Friday.

Fun in the Sun

Happy Sunday everyone!! The sun is shining and it is a beautiful day here. Here is a card I did for Taylor's weekly challenge. These fun summer colors inspired me to make a Beachabella card.

Supplies used: Beachabella and A Muse sentiment, Tempting Turquoise, Soft Sky, Pumpkin Pie and Gable Green cardstock from Stampin Up, Textile CB folder, ribbon from SU.

Tag, I'm it

How exciting … I was tagged by my friend Denise. I’m a huge fan of her work and not only is she talented, but super nice.

Okay, so first I have to list 7 random things about myself:

1. I love going to the beach very early in the morning, there’s something very spiritual about it for me

2. I own 14 pairs of flip flops

3. 3 of my all time favorite movies are: When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men and Forest Gump

4. I’m a huge country music fan

5. The worst parenting experience for me was teaching my daughter how to drive. In fact, I’m surprised we both survived.

6. I have more patterned paper and ribbon than I could ever possibly use, but that won’t stop me from buying more

7. I write and eat left handed, but do pretty much every thing else right handed

And now I have to tag 7 other people. So I chose 7 ladies that are bloggers that I found through the PIF Image thread at SCS:

1. Kathy (jellychick) - Jellychick’s Adventures
2. Pam (pam5) - Pam’s Pride
3. Laura (laurabelle) - Inkerbel’s Inklings
4. Joy (daiseyfreak) - Crazy for Daisies
5. Jen (J-Bo) - Inkypinky Inks
6. Stephanie (racechair) - Stampin Cats
7. Monica (falconstamper) - The Stampin Loft

Boo Boo Bear to the Rescue

Here's a card I made with one of my favorite images. She's such a cutie with her pink band-aids and little sling, I wish this card could really rescue its recipient. But unforuntately that won't be the case because I'm sending it to a friend that hurt her wrist bad enough to need surgery. Hopefully it will cheer her up at least a little bit.

Thanks to everyone who has sent me tips on getting better photos of my cards. I will be trying some things this weekend, so wish me luck.

Supplies: Boo Boo Bear from Whipper Snapper, Chatterbox patterned paper, Pretty in Pink and Old Olive cardstock, Primas, Copics.

Loves Me Some Truffles

I was fortunate enough to get some of these adorable Truffle Gruffie images from Janette on the PIF Image thread on SCS. So I made myself sit down this evening and make a card. These images are large and initially I made a 5 1/4 square card. But it looked gigantic to me. The downside of using a standard card size with a large image like this is there's not a lot of room for embellishing, but the image is so darn cute that it can stand on its own ... in my opinion. I like how it turned out, but I have a lot to learn about coloring with my prisma color pencils. But practice makes perfect and I have tons of images thanks to all those kind PIFers out there for sharing such cute stamps.

The sentiment I'm going to put inside is "I Never Met a Chocolate I Didn't Like". Which is true for me, in fact, I had to eat a Snickers after finishing this card.

Supplies: Truffles Gruffie, SU Loves Me DSP (which is retired), Close to Cocoa cardstock.

Papertrey Riley

This Coffee Riley makes me smile. I think he is my favorite, but I have Hammock Riley and Campfire Riley on the way from ePaperie. Super simple card with the Papertrey colors from last month. I absolutely love their twill ribbon, well pretty much all of their ribbon. I colored him with my new prisma color pencils.

If anyone has any advice on what I'm doing wrong with my camera, please let me know. I am not zooming, just trying to get as close as I can while the image still looks clear to me in the camera's viewer. My camera is a Canon Powershot Digital Elph.

Supplies: Coffee Riley from Hanna Stamps, Mixed Messages, Everyday Blessings patterned paper, Aqua Mist cardstock and twill from Papertrey, Martha Stewart scallop punch and SU 1 1/4 round punch.
